I talk about satisfaction and smartphones

Greetings, readers (yes, I'm aware that there's a big chance that you do not exist, but I need a proper greeting for my blog posts, don't I?).

I hope all of you are leading a life that you're satisfied with.

What, you're saying that my hope for you is too simplistic? That it doesn't sound visionary-ish enough (where, if I had to be one thing, I have to become visionary)?

Think again. Living a life you're satisfied with is a very hard thing to do.

Satisfaction is a thing that we human beings might as well never have. We're never satisfied with ourselves, with the things that we have, with the life that we lead.

Yes, I've heard it before; we should never be satisfied about ourselves because if we are, we'll never improve.

But if we're too unsatisfied about ourselves, it might lead to severe unhappiness. And if there's one thing that I think everyone should have--it's happiness.

It's okay to have the want to be better, to strive for the better--it's great, even. But I think that in the process of that, we should pay attention to the things that we already have, and be satisfied about it.

I've been procrastinating a great deal these days. My hands just won't let go of that darned smartphone. A tap of this, a scroll of that, just another tap and scroll won't hurt... perhaps.

But it does hurt me. It hurts me because due to the endless tapping and scrolling, I'm spending my precious time to do a thing that does not mean a lot to me, where, I can be spending that time to do things that do mean a lot to me.

So, with this blog post, I pledge to stash my smartphone and live my life. There.

Yes, I think that smartphones have been turning people into zombies. We stare blankly at screens, dreaming of the things that are inside that screen, and forget about the life that we have in reality. We are disconnected from the life that we should be living. Dead in the brain... zombies, right?

If you're disciplined and you can balance out your real life and your smartphone life, then, good for you. I've tried to discipline myself many, many times; trying to balance out truly living life and living my life on my smartphone, and I can say that I have failed each time with the smartphone life being the heavier side. The much heavier side.

I don't want that. My addiction to my smartphone has been making me miss out on the chance to live life the way it should be lived, doing the things that mean a lot to me. So, after a lot of attempts in including a smartphone to my life, I am finally coming to a conclusion that I can't live life properly with a smartphone.

So I hope that this decision of mine will make me feel more satisfied about my life. As I try to be a better person by doing actual things, with the smartphone obstacle already out of my way, I do hope that I will gain something more...

P.S. I will still use my smartphone for Duolingo and Duolingo only. I still have to learn Spanish for my departure to Argentina and Duolingo is my primary source for the time being!
